Westray is a 90 minute ferry ride from Kirkwall and its main town is Pierowall that houses the Westray Heritage Centre. Westray is a must for seabird lovers as over 100,000 flock to Noup Head including gannets, razorbills and guillemots. The Westray Wife or Orkney Venus is a figurine discovered during an archaeological dig by Historic Scotland. Two more figurines have subsequently been found and they are also on display. For lovers of art there are two lovely galleries, as well as a some shops, a hotel, a swimming pool, two cafe's, a bakery and marina.
