9 Ardminish Self Catering Gigha is a semi-detached house that can accommodate up to 10 people. For families there is an enclosed garden. Only one mile from the ferry terminal.
The property is in a great location for exploring Gigha. Gigha has a 9 hole golf course nearby, a local shop and restaurant. For cyclists, bikes are available for hire from the local shop. There are plenty of white sandy beaches to walk along and ferries can be taken to visit Campbeltown, Lochgilphead and Oban.
The Isle of Gigha
Gigha means ‘God’s Island’ and on visiting it is apparent why, magnificent scenery, spectacular wildlife, turquoise seas and pure white beaches. Gigha is the most southerly and one of the most beautiful of the Hebridean Islands. Seven miles long by a mile and a half wide, it is situated three miles west of the Kintyre peninsula, less than three hours drive from the city of Glasgow.
There is plenty to explore and see. There is a vibrant arts culture with many locals making an array of items to sell at the local gallery. Holistic treatments are available. For the more active there is an activity centre, golf, spectacular scenery for walking and the quiet roads are perfect for cycling.
For nature lovers there are many beautiful flowers including orchids and bluebells, Parnassus grass, 70 species of birds, seals, dolphins.
Gigha is low lying and influenced by the North Atlantic Drift resulting in the climate being drier and warmer than that normally associated with the west coast of Scotland. This makes ideal conditions for cultivating lots of different flora and fauna. This can be seen by visiting Achamore Gardens, a 54 acre botanical dream boasting unusual plants from all over the world. Woodland walks take in camellia, New Zealand ferns, Hydrangeas, Fuschias and bamboo maze.
A wonderfully tranquil island that indulges the senses. Relax at night and marvel at the sunsets over Islay and Jura and the dark skies where on occasion you can see the Northern Lights.
