Loch Gruinart House Self-Catering Islay is based on the North of Islay at the head of Loch Gruinart. It is a must for those who love watching birdlife as it sits within the boundaries of the RSPB Loch Gruinart Nature Reserve.
The property was formerly a Post Office which has since been converted into holiday accommodation. There is a 1 bedroom self catering studio for let which is perfect for couples wanting a getaway. If you are part of a larger party, the rest of the accommodation is a bed and breakfast so can also accommodate guests.
This location is perfect for those who like to get away from modern living and enjoy total tranquillity. Given its remote location there is quiet, no traffic and plenty of wildlife and gorgeous scenery. It is also a perfect base from which to explore the rest of the island including all the world famous whisky distilleries.
Self Catering
The self-catering studio is on the ground floor and accommodates two people. It comprises a kitchen/living room with a double bedroom and an en-suite shower room. The studio can be rented on a weekly basis (Saturday – Saturday) all year round with check in from 3pm on day of arrival and check out by 10am on day of departure.
Heated and cosy this is the perfect retreat for couples.
Loch Gruinart House Islay Tariff
SELF-CATERING: Prices are £400 per week March – October and £340 per week November – February. The price includes towels, linen, heat and electricity.
SHORT-BREAKS: Are subject to availability in low season and a minimum stay of three nights. £80 per night for up to four nights; 5 nights for £320; six nights for £340.
DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE: A 10% discount is available for repeat visitors.
PAYMENT: The owners do not currently accept payment by credit or debit cards – payment is therefore accepted by Bank Transfer, UK cheque or cash.

How to Get to Loch Gruinart House
LOCATION: Loch Gruinart House is situated approximately three miles along the B8017 after turning off the A847 (Bridgend to Port Charlotte road – signposted to Gruinart and Loch Gruinart Nature Reserve). It is 20 miles from Port Ellen, 14 miles from Port Askaig, 10 miles from Bowmore, 7 miles from Port Charlotte and 15 miles from Portnahaven.
BY CAR: From Glasgow, drive to Kennacraig – this journey should take approximately two and a half hours, or longer should you wish to take in the beautiful scenery. Take the A82 up Loch Lomondside, turning onto the A83 at Tarbet – continue on through both Inveraray and Lochgilphead towards Tarbert on Loch Fyne. The ferry port of Kennacraig is just five miles on from Tarbert. Please note that Kennacraig is simply a ferry terminal and not a town or village. It is clearly signposted on the Campbeltown road, but people have been known to miss it because they were expecting more.

BY FERRY: Caledonian MacBrayne operate the two hour crossing which runs throughout the year, with additional sailings during the summer season. BY AIR: Loganair operate a scheduled service from Glasgow Airport to Islay with a new service from Edinburgh Airport starting in early 2019. This is the quickest way to travel and can provide spectacular views of the islands and Kintyre.
