Persabus Cottages Self Catering Islay are cottages situated on Persabus Farm Islay. The Self Catering holiday cottages, farmhouse accommodation and campsite is within walking distance of Caol ila Distillery, Bunnahabhain Distillery and Ardnahoe Distillery. Persabus it is the gateway to the north Islay distilleries. Our holiday haven on Islay offers something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a quick pitch for the night whilst on a cycling holiday round Islay, or relaxing with the perfect family holiday. We have it all.
Persabus Cottages & Farm Islay offer you an escape to the countryside with stunning panoramic views of the Paps of Jura and the Sound of Islay. On site we have our family pottery, where you can try your hand at pottery painting.
Dog Friendly Holidays on Islay
Want perfect dog friendly holidays? Then bring your four legged friends with you. We are very happy for our guests to bring well behaved dogs on holiday too when staying in our self catering cottages. But please note that we are on a working farm, so dogs must be kept under control when in the surrounding areas.
Persabus Cottages Self Catering Islay
Persabus Cottage and Persabus Millhouse were originally built in the late 1700s. They have been completely renovated into comfortable, cosy homes. We offer both self-catering or bed and breakfast options in our cottages.
Persabus Cottage Farmhouse
Persabus Cottage Self Catering farmhouse kitchen features an oil-fired Rayburn, which is switched on during the colder months. A cosy sitting room offers a traditional open fire. The kitchen has a selection of appliances to suit your needs, including an electric hob with cooker, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, and a fridge with a small freezer compartment.
Situated on a working Hebridean hill farm on the beautiful Isle of Islay, Persabus Cottage was the original farmhouse. Built in the late 1700s, it was renovated by our owners, Donald and Rosemary, in the 1990s. It accommodates up to six people comfortably on a bed and breakfast or self-catering basis, and is dog friendly. It also has full wifi throughout.

Self Catering Holiday Cottage Features
A large farmhouse kitchen features an oil-fired Rayburn, which is switched on during the colder months. There is a large dining table and a settee next to the Rayburn to cosy up on after a day out on the beaches or hills. The kitchen has a selection of appliances to suit your needs, including an electric hob with cooker, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, and a fridge with a small freezer compartment.
A utility room off the kitchen has a washing machine, an additional sink, clothes airer, iron and ironing board.
Large patio doors lead from the kitchen into the private, enclosed garden. The garden features a high drystone wall built in the 1760s by Thomas Spalding, who built the Round church in Bowmore. There is also a decked area, with a picnic bench, ideal for barbecues on a hot day.
The sitting room, in addition to the oil fired central heating throughout the Cottage, has an open fire, for additional comfort and cosiness, and a flat screen TV, for those wishing a lazy fireside evening.
There is also a small study downstairs, with a selection of books and reading materials, and space at the desk should you wish to read or write there. There is Wifi throughout the Cottage.
Two bedrooms have the option of kingsize double beds or two single beds in each. (Please specify whether you require double or single beds at time of booking, otherwise the Cottage will be made up with a double room and twin room).
A third bedroom has bunk beds.
The bathroom features a bath with a shower over it, wash hand basin and WC. There is also an additional WC and wash hand basin downstairs.
What’s Provided
We supply all linen but prefer guests to supply their own towels if staying on a self-catering basis. A travel cot and high chair can be provided please let us know if you require these when you make your booking with us.

Persabus Millhouse Self Catering Accommodation
The Millhouse has a large sitting room, complete with flat screen TV. The tartan carpet, chesterfield sofas and the electric coal effect stove provide a perfect cosy and warm place to relax with an Islay dram after a day out on the hills or exploring Islay’s coastline.
Persabus Millhouse was a traditional farm steading built in the late 1700s, and converted into a self-catering cottage in the 1990s by owners, Rosemary and Donald Fletcher.
Self Catering Holiday Cottage Features
Persabus Cottages Self Catering – The Millhouse has a large sitting room, complete with flat screen TV. The tartan carpet, chesterfield sofas and the electric coal effect stove provide a perfect cosy and warm place to relax with an Islay dram after a day out on the hills or exploring Islay’s coastline.
The private garden is accessed through the back door, and has a small decked area with outdoor seating and table, ideal for an alfresco lunch or dinner in the warmer months of the year. It is ideal for dogs as it is fully enclosed.
The large, spacious kitchen, has a dining table and chairs and a small sofa for family and group meals. It is equipped with an electric hob and cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and toaster.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms. The two main bedrooms have the option of offering four single beds, two in each. Alternatively, you can enjoy two super king size double beds. (Please let us know when you book if you would like single or double beds, otherwise we will provide one double room and one twin room). The third bedroom has bunk beds for two people.
A large bathroom features a bath with a shower over it, wash hand basin and WC.

Farmhouse Accommodation
Farmhouse Accommodation Suite, Persabus
Renovated from Persabus Farm’s historic stable block,our Islay Farmhouse Accommodation suite is situated with its own entrance, in a separate wing of the farmhouse.
The suite has two large bedrooms, each with private en-suite shower rooms and toilet. For couples there is the option of a super king size double bed in each room. Alternatively each room offers twin beds or a single bed if just one guest is staying.
The small guests’ sitting room with TV, also known as ‘the whisky snug’, has four leather winged back armchairs providing ultimate comfort and the perfect opportunity for a relaxing dram after a day visiting beaches and distilleries.
Whilst the suite does not offer kitchen facilities, a tray with tea, coffee and biscuits is supplied in each bedroom. At this time we ask guests if possible to supply their own towels.

Camping On Islay
Here at Persabus Farm, we offer ‘camping with breakfast’ on the farm for passing cyclists and walkers.
Our Little Islay Camp Site
Our tent pitches offer panoramic views of the Paps of Jura and the Sound of Islay. Each morning we will provide a breakfast roll filled with egg, bacon and potato scone to set you up for the day. What’s more, you can pick up some delicious home cooking from our Pottery Café. Picnic benches are on site. We can accommodate parties of up to sixteen people on the farm but are very happy to welcome lone travellers also.
Islay Camping Facilities
As well as the option of breakfast and our onsite café, we offer our campers access to a WC and wash hand basin. At this time, we do not offer shower facilities.
Perfect Camping Location
Persabus provides a perfect location for those going on the ferry, with the Port Askaig terminal (for ferries to the mainland or the neighbouring Isle of Jura) just a short walk or cycle away.

Persabus Cottage/Persabus Millhouse/Farmhouse are non-smoking properties. Check in time is at 3pm, please let us know if you are arriving later than this so we can be here to welcome you on arrival. Check out time is 10.00am on the morning of departure.
