AA Covid-19 Confident

Staying Safe During Your Self Catering Holiday

Are you thinking of booking a self-catering holiday in 2020? Are you still feeling uncertain as to safety measures that accommodation providers must adhere to? To help the hospitality sector to re-open quickly and fill their bookings as swiftly as possible, the AA have introduced a Covid-19 Confident accreditation.

What is AA Covid-19 Confident?

The AA Covid-19 Confident scheme is backed by key industry bodies and is a free initiative open to all hospitality businesses. It allows self-catering accommodation owners to evidence what risk assessment, safety measures and staff training they have put into place to ensure the safety of guests. Property owners must submit these to the AA, who carry out an audit to make sure they are complying with Government guidelines. In addition, they need to carry out a self-assessment exercise. If all is satisfactory, they are awarded the Covid-19 Confident endorsement and receive a logo, a digital certificate, and a social media toolkit.

Part of the scheme also requires self-catering establishments to join the Covid Confident Charter which is a code of conduct to update their procedures as guidelines change and agree to participating in future checks. This ensures that those who have been accredited maintain their standards on an ongoing basis.

These measures are in addition to the national Good To Go scheme and show that they are going the extra mile to ensure your safety. keep an eye out for the AA Covid-19 confident logo on social media, websites and directory listings for that extra comfort that your hosts are guaranteeing you stay safe during your holiday.

Are you a self-catering business?

The Professional Association of Self-Caterers and the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers have commissioned a survey to evaluate the effects of Covid-19 on the self-catering sector across the UK. The survey is to assist them in seeing what impact the crisis has had and allow them to identify what the sector’s business priorities are over the next 12 months to support recovery and growth.
