Islay 65 Self Catering Islay is a Visit Scotland 4 star rated traditional stone built cottage dating from the early 1880’s situated on Loch Leodamais in the centre of Port Ellen village on the Island of Islay. Sympathetically extended and modernised.

 

Islay is the largest of the inner Hebridean islands and boasts stunning beaches and wildlife and is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts, especially for cycling.

 

The lounge and dining areas are open plan with exposed original beams and oak flooring. The lounge area boasts a Charnwood multifuel stove with Caithness slate hearth. A large wicker basket of logs is provided. The dining area contains a large oval natural wood gateleg table which can accommodate six and a child’s tall chair. The lounge and dining areas look out onto Loch Leodamais.

 

Library, Maps & Photographs

An OS map of Islay is hung in the open plan vestibule connecting the lounge and dining areas. Guide Books to Walks on Islay, Jura and Colonsay are included in the library provided in the lounge area for the use of guests during their stay.

Photographs of Islay views showing the island and some of its wild life in tranquile and storm conditions are hung on the walls throughout the cottage.

Twin Bedroom

The Twin bedroom on the ground floor has two tiered adult single size bunks. The floor is oak. The bedroom looks out into the walled garden.

 

The Kitchen & Utility Room

The modern kitchen on the ground floor has fitted units, composite work surfaces, display units and all modern appliances. The 4 hob ceramic cooker has two turbo ovens with grill. A combi microwave provides a third turbo oven and second grill. The dishwasher and modern combi fridge freezer are located in the kitchen. The washing machine and separate tumble drier are located in the adjacent utility room. The kitchen looks out into the walled garden.

 

 

 

 

Bathroom

The bathroom on the ground floor has bath, separate shower cubicle, wc and wash hand basin. hand soap and toilet paper are provided. The shower is electric. The bathroom looks out into the walled garden.

 

King Bedroom

The King bedroom on the first floor has a king size bed with memory foam mattress. There is a rocking chair beside the window from which to watch the world go by. There is also a wash hand basin unit with storage space. The floor is of stained and varnished natural wood. The bedroom looks out onto Loch Leodamais.

 

Double Bedroom

The Double bedroom on the first floor contains a double size bed with memory foam mattress. The floor is of stained and varnished natural wood. The bedroom looks out onto Loch leodamais and also into the walled garden.

 

Bedroom Furniture

All bedrooms contain bedside tables, bedside lamps, chests of drawers, wardrobes and full size mirrors.

 

Shower Room

The shower room on the first floor has a shower cubicle, wc and wash hand basin with light and electric shaver/toothbrush socket above. Hand soap and toilet paper are provided. The shower is electric. The shower room looks into the walled garden.

 

Media/Entertainment Facilities

The lounge area has a 40″ flat screen tv and the king bedroom a 32″ flat screen tv, both with independent Satellite TV connections and DVD players. The lounge area has a multi media speaker system for connection of I-Phone, I-Pad etc.

The kitchen is provided with a multi band radio including MW/LW/FM, shortwave and marine and air bands (not digital).

Free unlimited BT Infinity high speed wifi is provided throughout the cottage.

 

Outside

Islay 65 Cottage Islay is in the village. To the rear of the cottage the walled terraced garden extends to the private gated parking area for the use of guests. There is also ample street parking in Frederick Crescent to the front.

Garden furniture is stored in the utility room.

A rotary drier is provided with an ample supply of clothes pegs.

The rubbish bins are located in the gated parking area. Bagged household refuse is to be placed in the green bin.

There is a recycling centre located in the Back Road close to the rear gates.

Linen & Towels & Soap

All bed linen and bath/hand/dish towels are provided. Soap dispensers are provided in the kitchen, both bath/shower rooms and the king bedroom. A limited number of dish washer and washing machine detergent capsules are provided.

 

Islay-65 Self Catering Islay Reservations & Payments

Entry times from about 16.00 are flexible to suit ferry and flight times.

 

We ask guests to advise their anticipated arrival time in advance as our housekeeper does not live in the cottage and may meet them there on their arrival. We do our best to accept luggage drop offs for guests arriving off early ferries and flights. Please enquire.

 

All durations, rates and availability are stated in our on line enquiry & booking facility This also incorporates a secure on-line card payment facility.

 

Payment can also be made by bank transfer and bank cheque. Please contact us if you wish to pay in this fashion. Please ensure that sufficient time is allowed to ensure that transactions are completed within the requisite time frame.
