Harbourlee House Orkney ideal self catering accommodation,centrally situated in the small fishing town of Stromness, is close to all amenities and a very comfortable ideal base for visiting the many Archaeological and Historical sites, or taking a ferry to the Island of Hoy for a day, a bus tour, or going diving, loch fishing or sea angling, walking or cycling etc.
Stromness is steeped in History and there are Tour Guides who can give you a tour through the local area. We have a Museum and the Pier Arts Centre, both well worth a visit which are within walking distance from the accommodation
.
A favourite in the long summer daylight evenings is a stroll through our winding cobbled street and/or along the shore where there are beautiful sunsets to admire and depending on season, seals lying on the rocks.
Accommodation
Harbourlee House Orkney, some years before, was a bed and breakfast/guest house but now offers the *Bed* and a fully equipped Kitchen/Diner for Self Catering.
Harbourlee House is unique in that it can be booked :-
- per room for Individuals, Couples or a Family as it was before in Bed and Breakfast times, this has become very popular for weekly and shorter stays as not all people like an early cooked breakfast but like the Flexibility of our type of accommodation.
- per whole house for extended family and friends, or for a walking or cycling group or for sea angling and diving clubs etc
On the ground floor there is the Kitchen/Diner, Toilet/Shower and Laundry Room plus a Sitting Room.
On the 1st and 2nd floors are the 4 Family ensuite Bedrooms.
Facilities
The fully equipped Kitchen has two dining tables with chairs to seat groups all at one seating.

- Large soup pots along with all other pots and pans etc
- All dishes and cutlery provided
In the sitting room, guests as a group can relax or if you are a couple or individuals, you can share information on your day’s adventures. Many friendships have developed here over the years especially during the many festivals where the same people have rebooked for following years.
Some couples retire early to their comfortable bedrooms to plan their next day, watch television or read a book.
The four ensuite bedrooms have :-
- electric kettles
- hairdryers
- TV
- Heaters in bedroom
- Electric towel rails in en suite
- Shaving sockets
All Heating, Towels and Linens are inclusive.
The family sized bedrooms are versatile without compromising on comfort and the rooms offer family and twin/double occupancies.
For group bookings the king beds can split into two single beds.
There are laundry facilities :-
- a washing machine
- dryer
- Iron and ironing board.
There is complimentary WIFI
A shed for cycle storage close by.
On street parking outside when available but also carparks close by.
Tariff 2023/2024
Our weekly lets are usually from Saturday arrival to Saturday departure.
We are more flexible on festival weekends and when no groups are booked into a following week.

- A total of 13 beds plus a Z bed available
- Short stays with quotes available on request
- Any extra information required please just send an email.
- A 30% deposit is asked to confirm a booking and the balance is due 6 weeks before arrival date.
- For a cancellation, if enough time is given and we are able to relet the week, a full refund will be made.
